Users give their own money: donations with the Charitips API

An app lets users give their own money: they pick a charity and an amount, then pay the app. The server records the donation after payment; the receipt is in the donor's name.

How to read this demo: the site shows what your customer does, and the panel what your server sends and what Charitips answers, step by step.

Build spec

The site is made up and nothing is sent. The endpoints, fields and webhook events are the real ones, and so are the charities.

How it works

  1. Once, before the first customer

  2. 01

    Give to a cause

The donor picks a charity, then an amount, and pays you. Your server records the donation once your payment succeeds, with the donor's address for the fiscal receipt in their name.

    • Your donation: 50,00 €
    • Cost after the 66 % tax reduction: 17,00 €

The customer picks a charity from your selection. Button: Give 50 € to the charity

    Your server calls:

    • POST /v1/donationsCreate a donation: after your payment succeeds; amount in cents, donor address for the receipt

Charitips then sends the donation_create webhook to your endpoint.

  3. 02

    Thank you

Receipts are yearly by default. For one receipt per donation, your server asks for it once the donation is processed; before that, the API answers 403. The PDF is generated in the background.

Charitips then sends the fiscalreceipt_generated webhook to your endpoint.
